Golden hour turns Binh Dinh salt field into quilt of color

 De Gi salt field in Binh Dinh Province looks like a palette of colors in the afternoon sunlight when seen from above.

De Gi in Cat Minh Commune, Phu Cat District is one of the largest salt farms in the south-central province.

There are two roads leading to the field from Quy Nhon, a major tourist attraction. Visitors could take Highway 1A to the Gom Market intersection in Cat Hanh Commune and turn right and from here it is 20 km to De Gi. The other route is around 54 km along the Nhon Hoi Beach road.

Cat Minh Commune is famous for its long tradition of salt-making. Rectangular fields, each around 100 square meters and with splashes of color, spread over dozens of hectares. There are five plots of water for every one of salt.

White mounds of salt seem to float on wide open fields.

The blue of the sky and sea add to the picture.

In the open fields under the scorching sun, farmers diligently rake, carry and pile the salt into mounds.

Though De Gi is not yet a popular destination, tourism has begun to make a start here as visitors start exploring paths less traveled. Visitors to De Gi can also go coral diving and rowing in the sea, which is not far away.
